Jumping the Scratch

I really enjoyed this book about a young boy who moves to live with his aunt who recently suffered from a brain injury and whose father moves away. His mother works nights at the local cherry canning factory so he doesn't see her much. It's a kind of sad, but very real, story of a young boy and how life is hard for him. It takes a while for him to come to terms with a traumatic event that happened when he first moved and it isn't revealed to the reader until very late in the book, but it's tactfully discussed and something I think kids can easily relate to.
