I have a student who is really into sports and when I saw this book it intrigued me. I actually really like this book! The cool part is that it is all written in poetry but it read like a novel. The character talks about life: his parents, playing baseball, a new cute girl; but he also talks about different kinds of poetry: haiku, sonnet, couplets. I'm starting a poetry unit next week and I am totally going to read this book to go along with what we learn. The best part, it's a super quick read. I think this book can totally help kids relate to poetry. Plus...I learned what it means to "bat cleanup" and other fun baseball factoids!
