Change of Plans

I am currently sitting in a hospital room in the pediatrics ward of Lake Forest Hospital.  Chad just rolled Jordan by outside on a little wagon-rider.  While they are playing and we are waiting for our dinner I thought I would write about our slight change of plans...

Thursday night I noticed Jordan had a lumpy thing in his diaper area, kind of in his groin.  This, of course, freaked Chad out and he was imagining all these horrible things...when Jordan woke up in the morning it was even more lumpy and redder and swollen.  We were going to wait until the doctor opened and call and talk to them but decided to instead just go in to sick call.  We had about 6 inches of snow I would say and were both off for a snow day, but there we were making the trek to the doctor at 8:00 in the morning.

We were in and out in no time, which was good, except we were out and off to the emergency room because the doctor was kind of worried about what was going on with Jordan.  Slowly, but surely, we made our way to the emergency room, were checked in...and a few IV tries later (NOT FUN!) we were admitted to treat what they figured was an infection.  Now, we're still here in the hospital getting an antibiotic through an IV to treat what they know now is a staph infection.  Chad and I weren't planning to go to the hospital, weren't planning to be admitted, weren't even planning to stay more than one night...and yet, here we are.  I'm not even sure what our plans were, but this was not it.

Overall, we're doing okay, it's just not that fun to sit around in a hospital all day.  He gets the antibiotics every eight hours and other than that he can roam around and play in the play room...but we're all feeling a little chicken cooped.  I have pictures of Jordan in his adorable mini-hospital gown that I'll post later.  Right now, it's time for dinner.

I am so glad Jordan is going to be ok. We take our healthy babies for granted when things are going well, and it's very scary when things do not go well. Give him big hugs and kisses.
