Ask Me No Questions

Ask Me No Questions

By Marina Budhos

I was intrigued by this book after reading so many books about illegal immigrants crossing the Mexican-U.S. border. This book is about a girl who is an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. It tells her story after 9/11 when the U.S. looked more closely at Muslim people living in here, especially those with expired visas or unfiled papers. I'm definitely going to be recommending this to my students to give them a different perspective on illegal immigrants.

From an adult's perspective, it was interesting to read, but it's definitely a young adult book. It's not a book I'd recommend to an adult but if you work with middle schoolers up or have a middle schooler of your own I would recommend it to you or them!

This looks really great! And it definitely sounds like something younger readers could sink their teeth into. You might also try The Heart Is Not a Size by Beth Kephart, it's along the same vein...and so so good!

Have a fabulous reading week!
